Lady of Keylong Expedition
A challenging glaciated peak above Keylong
The trek
One of Himachal's toughest 6,000 m climbs, to the 6,061 m Lady of Keylong above the Lahaul valley, on glacier and ice from Tinoo village.
The Lady of Keylong is the elegant 6,061 m peak that watches over the Lahaul valley — named for a snow figure on its face that resembles a woman carrying a kilta basket. Snow-covered year round and approached from the village of Tinoo near Keylong, it is one of the most challenging and least-crowded 6,000 m climbs in Himachal, on glacier, karewa and steep ice.
This is a technical expedition with few campsites and committing ground, meant for experienced climbers comfortable with ice climbing and glacier travel. Acclimatisation in Lahaul and reserve days for the summit window are built into the itinerary, which is best run through the summer climbing season.
