The expedition begins in Leh, the high-altitude gateway to Ladakh. After an initial period of rest and acclimatization, the team travels through Kargil towards Tangol in the Suru Valley. From Tangol, the approach continues on foot towards base camp, where the expedition enters its main mountaineering phase.

Reaching base camp marks the beginning of a carefully planned climbing programmed. Participants must adapt to the altitude, organize their equipment, practice essential technical skills and prepare for the demanding conditions higher on the mountain. Depending on the route and conditions, the ascent involves travel across glaciated terrain, steep snow and ice slopes, fixed-rope sections and movement between progressively higher camps.

Rigorous Technical Prerequisites: Mount Nun is strictly not open to beginner hikers. Applicants must demonstrate prior high-altitude mountaineering experience above 6,000 meters (such as Mentok Kangri 2, Kang Yatse 2, or Black Peak) along with formal certification in basic or advanced mountaineering courses (BMC/AMC). Complete mastery of crampon techniques, jumaring, and self-arrest is non-negotiable. Extreme Altitude & Frostbite Hazard: Operating past 7,000 meters exposes the human body to severe hypoxia and peripheral frostbite risks. Frontpoint Adventures enforces mandatory triple-layered mountaineering boots (rated to -30°C to -40°C), down suits (800+ fill power), daily pulse-oximeter (SpO2) tracking, and emergency supplemental oxygen bottles with demand-valve masks. Strict Turnaround Time (TAT): A non-negotiable summit turnaround time of 10:00 AM is strictly enforced. Any climber who has not breached the final summit arête by this cutoff must reverse course with their dedicated guide to prevent high-altitude exhaustion, dehydration, and dangerous afternoon whiteouts.
