The classic circuit of the Annapurna massif, climbing through every climate zone from subtropical valley to the snow of the 5,416-metre Thorong La.
The Annapurna Circuit is one of the world's great walks. It loops around the entire Annapurna massif, carrying you from rice terraces and waterfalls in the lowlands, up through pine and rhododendron forest, into the high, dry, Tibetan-flavoured villages of Manang, and over the 5,416-metre Thorong La — one of the highest trekking passes on Earth.
The variety is the draw: in two weeks you pass through more landscapes, cultures and climates than almost any other trek can offer, finishing at the temple of Muktinath and the windy Kali Gandaki gorge. It is a teahouse trek, comfortable underfoot, but the pass day is long, cold and high.

Arrival in Kathmandu (1,400 m / 4,593 ft) – Gear Checks, Briefing & Orientation Welcome to Kathmandu, the historic gateway to the Nepal Himalayas. Sitting in a bowl-shaped valley surrounded by green hills, the capital serves as our staging ground to rest, acclimatize, and wrap up essential pre-trek preparations before hitting the trail. What to expect today: Thamel Exploration & Gear Sourcing: Most of your day will be centered around Thamel, the vibrant adventure hub lined with mountaineering stores, bakeries, and courtyards. If your kit is missing anything—from microspikes and trekking poles to thermal layers and down jackets—this is the best market to rent or purchase both authentic branded gear and reliable local alternatives at competitive rates. Currency Exchange & Cash Logistics: While major establishments and money changers in Kathmandu readily accept Indian Rupees (INR), international cards, and foreign currencies, local Nepali Rupees (NPR) in cash are mandatory once on the trail. Teahouses and lodges in the higher reaches do not have reliable card machines or digital payment gateways, and trail ATMs are notoriously inconsistent. Use today to withdraw or exchange sufficient cash for hot showers, device charging, drinking water, and personal expenses. (Note for Indian travelers: Carry INR ₹100 or ₹500 denominations, as acceptability can vary at smaller counters). Team Briefing & Acclimatization: In the evening, gather for the official pre-trek briefing with your trek leader and fellow adventurers. We will review the route itinerary, conduct mandatory medical checks, establish high-altitude protocols, and discuss trail etiquette for the teahouses ahead.
